The Girls Place in Gainesville FL, launched its first ever day of the Morning Mile and it was a great turnout. The day started as the campers arrived and were already anxious and excited to run. They listened to some of their favorite hits and counted off the laps as they sprinted past the start line. Athletic Director and mentor, Taryn Buckley, of The Girls Place said “it was a huge success for the girls and a great start to their days. I think it will challenge the girls to stay active and promote healthy lifestyles for them later down the road.”
Many girls were able to run close to two miles on the first day and showed no signs of wanting to stop at that mark. Some of the them were are also participants of the Morning Mile at their local schools and were eager to show the other girls what the it was all about.
