I’m reaching out to you today with a request to share a little love with one of our Morning Milers battling leukemia. Andrew Mercier is a 10-year-old 5th grader at Stoneleigh Elementary in Maryland. Last year, before his diagnosis, he fell in love with The Morning Mile so much that he even did some laps while hospitalized last spring to stay active and earn charms. Well, things have become far more difficult for this sweet little boy and he’s going to be spending months on end in the hospital for treatment, including a painful bone marrow transplant.
I’d love to rally the Morning Mile troops around the world to give Andrew a boost. If you have the interest, I’m providing his mailing address. Cards, letters, toys, legos, books, artwork, puzzles, games … anything to keep him entertained, occupied and feeling the love when he’s able to enjoy it would be fantastic. His parents Paul and Colleen are doing all they can do care for Andrew, but it’s got to be a nightmare. So any loveliness shared their way would likely be appreciated as well.
I appreciate everyone’s consideration and I hope we, as a fit family, can provide some extra smiles and hope for one of our own.
