What is The Morning Mile?
What could get a 3rd grader to run 500 miles at school in one year? What could get a kindergartener to complete 300 miles? Fitzness International’s Morning Mile is a before-school walking/running program that gives children the chance to start their day in an active way while enjoying fun, music and friends. It’s supported by a wonderful system of rewards, which keeps students highly motivated and frequently congratulated. It’s a proven project geared towards fighting childhood obesity and increasing the physical activity levels of school children nationwide.
Our program guidebook ensures any school can easily reproduce the Morning Mile with tremendous success. This program has already been implemented in Florida and Texas in 90 schools or camps with extraordinary success. We’re excited to spread nationally as well. Our Morning Milers have run about 300,000 miles already. Wow!
Providing children the opportunity to exercise each morning not only works to fight childhood obesity, it allows students to expend youthful energy on the field leaving them more likely to excel in academics once the school day begins. Teachers praise their student’s new ability to sit still, focus and learn, parents rave about their child’s sense of pride, accomplishment and dedication to a healthy lifestyle, and doctors hope every child will soon have access to the Morning Mile. . The kids … they love how exercise makes them feel, their reward necklaces and spending time with friends.
